Rock Wing Journeys: Home

ABOUT

There is something in each one of us that becomes fully alive when we are in nature and when we begin to see ourselves as an extension of the natural world, to feel our bodies as our own piece of the earth through which we experience our own rhythms, cycles, and seasons.  In learning ourselves in this way, we come alive to our unique gifts, to our mysteries, our strengths, and to our myths.  We become empowered to be our most authentic self and to gracefully “risk ourselves bodily in society” with what we know to be “our individual artistry.”

Jay Fields created Wing Rock Journeys because of her belief that a fully alive person must embody lightness and depth, vision and groundedness.  When we learn how to move in this balance, we begin to navigate the journey of our lives as the hero of our own story. We see how our own story weaves into the universal story and we experience ourselves as an integral and vibrant part of the threads of our communities.

In addition to her training at the School of Lost Borders as a wilderness rites of passage guide, Jay draws from her experience as a yoga teacher, wilderness therapy instructor, backpacking guide, and challenge course facilitator to help people learn and grow experientially through their bodies and in nature.  Jay is a member of the Wilderness Guides Council and is a Certified Wilderness First Responder.  She wishes to express unbounded gratitude for her teachers, fellow guides, and for all who live full, authentic lives.

"Jay Fields embodies the wisdom of the elders along with the exuberance of youth.  Her deep insight and courage to probe deeply into one's psyche and her compassion to hold one gently as she does so create the possibility for deep personal transformation.  I have the deepest respect and gratitude for her work."
